Philip Milton Roth was born in Newark, New Jersey, on 19 March
1933. He was an
American novelist. Roth is one of the most awarded American writers of his generation. Roth's first book Goodbye, Colombus and five short stories won The National Book Award in 1960. Roth's novel Everyman, a meditation on illness, aging, desire and death, was pubished in May 2006. He died at Manhattan, New York, U.S,
of congestive heart failure, on 22 May
2018, at the age of 85
